When you order custom exterior shutters, you’re making an investment in the look of your home. Choosing Timberlane means you want that investment to last for more than just a few years. And as much as we’d love to keep giving you shutters, we make ours to last. Based on a national survey for home builders, the process of repainting shutters including material and labor costs can total up to $1,142.
So how can you make sure your shutters can stand the test of time? With Timberlane shutters, there isn't much to worry about. We provide capping which helps to protect your shutters from water damage. Placed at the head of the shutter, this barrier keeps water off of the wood which would cause the shutter to warp and ultimately become disfigured. (Note: arched tops do not need capping as the water won’t pool on top and seep into the wood).
To help protect your shutters, we provide aluminum capping at no additional cost that can be painted to match your shutters (you can upgrade to copper capping for a nominal fee).
If you have wood shutters, you should clean them at least once a month. However, with exterior shutters that are made from wood, you will need to be as careful as possible when using water. Like we explained above, the water used to clean your shutters may make them warp. Use as little water as possible, and dry them off as quickly as you can. Proper care means longer-lasting shutters and years of great curb appeal.
Our Endurian Shutters are maintenance-free, so there is no need to worry about upkeep with paint chipping or peeling away. Our proprietary synthetic blend is resistant to water, heat, debris or bugs that might cause damage. These shutters are often favored by our customers with coastal homes as they are able to withstand the elements.
Here at Timberlane, we're in the business of making lasting shutters and engineering products to limit your need for upkeep. If you’re ever curious about the maintenance needed for your shutters, simply give our Shutter Experts a call.
